We just wanted to personally thank you for such a beautiful stay at Basedow Haus — it was truly something special. The house is stunning, and you can really see the care and thought that’s gone into every detail. We especially loved the luxe touches throughout — the quality linens, elegant finishes, and those little extras that made everything feel so indulgent yet still warm and inviting. Everything was impeccably clean, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. It really felt like a home away from home, but with a lovely boutique, high-end feel. We found it so easy to relax and completely unwind.
The location was perfect as well — being right near the vineyards and an easy stroll into town made everything so enjoyable. We also spent some lovely time in the garden just soaking up how peaceful it all was.
Thank you as well for your clear and thoughtful communication throughout — it made everything seamless from start to finish. We’ve had such a wonderful experience. Thank you again for having us.

Affordable luxury in the Barossa. What a fabulous house! Beautiful, both inside and out.
Comfy Beds , a great kitchen with everything you could think of. All the appliances, dinnerware and cookware were all very good quality. The huge bathroom, although not ensuite, is really well thought out with lovely partition doors to divide up the different areas if needed and the finish is very high quality.
You can tell a lot of thought has gone into setting up this house for a guest's every need.
Its only 3 min walk (if that) into the centre of Tanunda and the house has really nice gardens to relax and enjoy a glass of wine in. We had a wonderful stay and Max (the host) was extremely accommodating and helpful So if you fancy a bit of luxury at affordable rates I would thoroughly recommend Basedow House.

An incredible stay, and I can’t recommend the house enough!
We loved the alfresco dining and the kitchen was a dream! It was stocked with everything to prepare your foodie feasts after sourcing in the Barossa. We loved the concrete floors too and the central cooling, it was so homely. We didn’t want to leave! It was perfect.

Special country estate, quiet and peaceful yet minutes from the Main Street. As soon as you enter the front door you realise it is a very special place. We liked it all, great design, lots of room and wonderful amenities

Max's property at Tanunda was magnificent. It was immaculate, perfectly appointed to the highest of standards and such a gorgeous cottage renovated to its period without compromise. Our stay in Tanunda exceeded all expectations and we couldn't fault this property, its location, the cleanliness, the features and the communication. This property was perfect for the Easter weekend away with my Dad.

Basedow Haus was the perfect base for our Barossa holiday. The house was beautifully furnished, comfortable and private. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything needed to make beautiful meals at home. The bathroom is large with dividing doors making it easy for sharing. The backyard was lovely. Easy walk to the Main Street for groceries, restaurants and bars. We had a wonderful stay.

Wow! A stunning, stylish and a sophisticated blend of restored elegance and clean, modern lines. We cannot say enough how much we enjoyed and appreciated staying at Basedow Haus. Everything about this property is just wonderful and we have already recommended it to family and friends. Max was the perfect host and a pleasure to communicate with. Proximity to Chateau Tanunda and walking distance to the downtown area with access to restaurants, bars, shops etc.

Oh my, what can we say about this beautiful Barossa home without going into superlative overdrive? The location is perfect. Tanunda is centrally located to every Barossa destination and the house itself is within toddling distance of great restaurants, a ridiculously good gin bar and a very gorgeous wine bar. As for the house, it’s just stunning. Lovingly renovated and brought back to life by the owners, Max and Neale, everything has been thought about and catered for with an absolutely exquisite and tasteful attention to detail. Log fire – check. Zoned ducted heating in every room so you don’t need to think twice about taking that shower on a winter’s morning – check. Absolute privacy in a central location – check. Beautiful luxe bedding and soft furnishings – check. Comfortable to the point that you don’t want to leave – check. Great WiFi, Smart TV and sound system – check. Wonderful complimentary toiletries (and soaps!) – check. Great art on the walls – check. The only thing that was better than all of this was Max himself. An absolute joy to deal with, he was super-efficient and friendly in his communication, from the moment we booked to the moment we left. And his recommendations about where to eat and visit were spot-on! Couldn’t have wished for a more gracious and thoughtful host who, with Neale, has put his heart and soul into creating this beautiful home and a stay that we will remember for many, many years to come! PRO TIP: ask Max for his recommendations about where to eat. ONLY REGRET: not staying longer than 5 nights.
